[SALEM, OR]–Farmworker housing advocates will celebrate Oregon’s progress in improving the quality of housing for the state’s agricultural work force on Friday, April 1.
The event is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the State Capitol, 900 Court St. NE.
It will kick off with a celebration from 9 a.m. to noon in the Galleria area of the Capitol.
It will be followed by the reading of a proclamation honoring the late César Chávez, a leader and humanitarian credited with championing the struggles of farm workers after founding the National Farm Workers Association in California, which later became the United Farm Workers of America.
The proclamation will be read at at noon in the Governor’s Ceremonial Office on the second floor of the Capitol.
