Graciela Martinez, former director of Proyecto Campesino, has been named the Anita de la Vega Community Service Award winner.

The award is given to honor Anita de la Vega, a founding clinician of Family HealthCare Network, where she worked for more than 30 years. She is remembered for her decades of service, her work ethic and commitment to community service.

Martinez was born to a farmworker family and spent her career advocating for low-income families, immigrants and particularly farmworkers. She was also involved in the founding of Self-Help Enterprises, a local nonprofit committed to the needs of the underserved.

She will receive her award at a Family HealthCare Network gala dinner and holiday celebration Saturday at the Visalia Convention Center.
