[Tulare and King Counties, CA] — A week-long national celebration of America’s health centers starts next week, including at Family HealthCare Network clinics throughout Tulare and Kings counties.
The network of clinics will mark 35 years of providing health care in the counties and put the focus on farmworkers Thursday for National Farmworker Health Day with ways to safeguard their health and their families’ health.
A number of community events are scheduled throughout the week to help the public become aware of services and how to access them. All events are free. Here’s a look at what’s planned:
Monday
- Farmworker education on exposure to pesticides and heat stress. 9 a.m. to noon, Visalia Bridge Street clinic.
Tuesday
- Proclamation declaring National Health Center Week in Tulare County. 9 a.m., Tulare County Board of Supervisors meeting.
- Farmworker education on exposure to pesticides and heat stress. 9 a.m. to noon, Visalia Oak Avenue clinic.
- Kids’ coloring contest, winner to be announced Aug. 12. All day, Goshen, Ivanhoe and Woodlake clinics.
Wednesday
- Farmworker education on exposure to pesticides and heat stress. 9 a.m. to noon, Porterville clinic.
Thursday
- Family HealthCare Network services and programs. 8-11 a.m., Visalia Flea Market.
- Share lunch with field laborers. 10 a.m. to noon, various locations.
Friday
- Farmworker education on exposure to pesticides and heat stress. 9 a.m. to noon, Visalia Bridge Street clinic.
Saturday
- Back-to-school well-child clinics. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Porterville, Cutler/Orosi and Visalia Bridge clinics.
