Coldwater, Mich. — On Monday night, Mastronardi Produce Ltd. took another step toward construction of a massive 73 acres of vegetable greenhouses, as the Coldwater City Council approved the ordinance to allow the structures in D-2 Industrial and C-4 Commercial districts. It would also allow adjacent migrant worker facilities.

Mayor Gene Wallace called the addition to the industrial economy “a plus with the news of the closing of Florence Crane.”

City Planner Piers Kirby said the language for the ordinance came from the American Planning Association and were tweaked by the Coldwater Planning Commission.
