SAF: National Farmworker Awareness Week is March 27 – April 2, 2011

Student Action with Farmworkers (SAF) celebrates the12th Annual National Farmworker Awareness Week—March 27 – April 2, 2011—to raise awareness about farmworker conditions and to honor their important contributions to us every day!

Farmworker Awareness Week is a national week of action for students and community members to raise awareness about farmworker issues on our campuses and in our communities.

Why do we have farmworker awareness week?

Farmworkers feed the world- 85% of our fruits and vegetables are handpicked. We demand dignity for farmworkers!

  • Farm work is the third most dangerous job in the United States. We demand safe working conditions for farmworkers!
  • Farmworkers are treated differently under the law. We demand just living and working conditions for farmworkers and an end to unfair treatment under the law.

Contact Advocacy & Organizing Director Nadeen Bir for ideas on how to take action. Check out all the upcoming events in your area on our Farmworker Awareness Week website.
